Links to sustainability units at selected academic institutions abroad

  • Sustainability unit at FU Berlin. Sustainability report 2018: "Freie Universität Berlin has invested between 1.5 and 2.5 million Euros annually in these programs, with the payback periods generally being less than five years."
  • Energy and Sustainability unit at Uni Copenhagen. Most of the information in Danish only. Quote from their head of the unit Tomas Refslund Poulsen: Our energy efficiency programs since 2008 has reduced energy consumption with approx. 33% per staff and student since Carbon emissions (Scope 1+2 + work related transport) has been reduced by approx. 60% per staff and student. Annual energy cost savings approx. 8 million Euros.
  • École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. Including a detailed report on the carbon footprint from business travels.
  • University of Warwick. One of the main goals is to reach net zero carbon from our direct emissions and the energy we buy by 2030 a dále to put in place initiatives to significantly reduce our indirect emissions with the aim of achieving net zero carbon for both direct and indirect emissions by 2050.
  • Sustainability at Ghent University. Contains detailed sustainability reports in English. In particular, the university has fairly detailed travel policy. " 'Green cities' are cities that take less than 6 hours to reach by bus or tram starting from Ghent.... When booking a trip to one of these 'green cities', the plane is no longer offered as a possible means of transportation. "
